Raja Ravi Verma Prints

This is a beautiful and a very rare set of six prints of Raja Ravi Verma's paintings.
The set was specially reproduced by Air India and is in a blue jacket cover titled
'The Art of Raja Ravi Verma'.
The inside also has an introduction page with a brief write up on all the prints
of the paintings in the set, as well as a brief write up on Raja Ravi Verma.
The set is old, but the year is not known. A perfect gift for someone - or to frame
and display on your walls. A great collector's item!

About Raja Ravi Verma

Raja Ravi Verma was born in 1848 in a princely family in Kerala. Ravi Verma is considered the pioneer in the development of the western style in Indian paintings. He was the first Indian artist to exhibit overseas in 1892. The importance of his work lies in its corelation of Indian mythological art and Western concept of art. He was patronised by Indian royalty and was popular with large sections of society. He died in 1906, but left behind a legacy of paintings which form an important landmark in the history of Indian painting.
