Profile: The
mountains surrounded by the silence of the pines are her inspiration, where she
grew up. When speaking of her work Bhanu emphasizes the importance of immersing
herself in the process keeping it as uncomplicated as possible, ' the simpler,
the better ' she feels. These works are a journey of her learning experience and
very close to her heart since each one speaks of a memory attached to it. Over
the years, a lot has changed in the way she paints slowly moving towards the free
forms leaning towards being abstract.
Bhanu
studied art in India and in the US with many accomplished teachers. She earned
her bachelors degree in Fine Arts from the Arts College at Chandigarh (India).
After receiving her degree she freelanced for various local advertising agencies
and other establishments, dabbling with photography & commercial art. But
after struggling between the demands of earning money and her souls calling she
found her outlet in watercolours. Since
then she has devoted all her energy into honing her skills primarily from the
tranquil atmosphere of her home in New Jersey. She specializes in watercolours
& attends a number of art classes at the New York Open Center, NYU, and Spring
Studio in NY. The Art Center of northern NJ and Art School at old Church in NJ. 'As
an artist I am humbled by my experiences and at the same time am more sure of
who I am. My art doesn't question me or ask anything of me; rather it gives more
back to me as it slowly takes me down a road less traveled … '
